A resident film is formed on the surface of the base material, while also diffusing into the uppermost part of the base material. The rust prevention effect at 1μ is unprecedented. However, similar to zinc-based systems, oil application and other measures are necessary for a period of 70 to 90 days until the oxygen molecules between the film layers become inert. After this period, an alloy layer forms on the base material, resulting in a robust coating. The advantages of rust prevention effects with a precision of 1±0.3μ are primarily utilized in the treatment of precision machine parts such as linear guide rails, bearings, and fitting components.
